MotoGP, Gino Borsoi: "Marc Marquez will be a problem for everyone”

9 gen 2024

For Prima Pramac Racing team manager, Gino Borsoi, 2023 was as intense as it was satisfying, considering the success of Jorge Martin, world championship runner-up and a frontrunner throughout the season, and the Pramac team as a whole, winners of the team title. The Italian manager, who has always emphasised the strength and talent of his staff and riders, now looks ahead to the imminent 2024 season, highlighting the skills of new Ducati hire, Marc Marquez, and discussing Franco Morbidelli, who has the difficult task of flanking Jorge Martin. The latter recently touched on the subject of the eight-time champion’s latest adventure, pointing out both his value and possible side effects within the Ducati camp.

Gino Borsoi: "Marquez will immediately be fast"

As for the competitiveness of Marc Marquez on the Ducati, Borsoi has no doubts and sends out a warning to the entire MotoGP paddock: "It would be crazy to say Marquez won’t be competitive. Marquez will definitely be competitive, he’ll undoubtedly be one of the best and this will be a problem for us all. Borsoi then looks at the positives: "But it’s also an advantage for us all. Because if we’re smart, we’ll be able to exploit Marquez’s speed to become even more competitive ourselves.”

The team manager talks about his new rider, Franco Morbidelli

In the interview with our Speedweek colleagues, Borsoi also discusses his latest hire, Franco Morbidelli, who faces a particularly important year, career wise: "I’m sure Franco will get on well on our team and will also do well with the best bike of the bunch. Then we will have to work to help Morbidelli get back to his usual level. Let’s not forget that he fought for the title in 2020. We haven’t seen the real Morbidelli over the last two years. I really hope we see him again 2024. I hope that we’ll battle for the podium and also something bigger”. In closing, Borsoi adds: "He seems like a fantastic kid, he’s got a great personality. From what I’ve seen so far, he seems very easy to talk to. He’s very open, he listens. With these characteristics, I think we’ll work well together right from the start”.
