In an interview with As, Jorge Martin deemed Ducati’s decision to go with Enea Bastianini over himself inexplicable, despite an almost perfect season in which the Spaniard finished second in the championship. Martin also spoke about the Bologna manufacturer’s hiring of Marc Marquez, which won’t be a problem in his opinion, but rather added motivation to push him to become one of the best in history.

MotoGP in 2024

Jorge Martin will continue to compete with the Pramac Racing team next season and will no doubt be a frontrunner once again. But one rider who might prove to be a revelation next season, if you can call an 8-time champion a revelation, is Marc Marquez: “He may have an advantage over us early on because he’ll have a bike that’s already developed. For the factory riders, testing is much more complicated because there are many things to test, but this year I’ll push to have my time and then, once everything is clear, I’ll start testing”. Jorge Martin is heading into his third MotoGP season but has already been able to fight for the title: “When I signed for Ducati Lorenzo and Dovizioso were still here, but Marquez won anyway. I had options with Honda, KTM, Yamaha with Petronas and Ducati and I went with Ducati because I could see a future with them, despite the fact the ‘rookies’ were still struggling at that time. It’s different now, and even the rookies can do great things, though I did win a race in my first year”. Marc Marquez does not worry Martin: “It’s not a problem for me that Marquez is coming to Ducati. He’s a big threat, because he’s one of the greatest in history, but for me that’s added motivation. If I’m able to beat him, then I too will be one of the best.”
