It wasn’t just the incident between Daniel Pedrosa and Lorenzo Savadori to ignite – quite literally – the Styrian GP, but also the controversy that broke out between Marc Marquez and Aleix Espargaró following the move #93 made on the Aprilia rider in both phases of the race.

Episodes that left Aleix furious, the Spaniard quick to criticise the race stewards and the way they manage this kind of situation.

"We cannot win"

“I’m very angry. Marc is Marc, we know his style”, commented Espargaró during an interview with Sky Sport MotoGP.He makes those on-the-limit moves but the problem is the stewards. I guess they were watching the Olympics.”

“No rider is happy with the way they work. If someone crashes, there’s a penalty, but if there’s no crash, like today, then no penalty”, continues #41. “I ask myself what they are here for if they don’t properly analyse what happens. We cannot win”.

A race to forget

Not an easy Sunday for the Spaniard, whose race ended with a DNF: “I was catching up and had the pace to finish top six, but there was a problem with the bike”, he explains. “A pity, because we lose out on important points and also for Lorenzo’s accident, again at this track. I hope he can be back on the bike soon. Now all we can do is focus on next week’s race”.
