MotoGP, official: Daniel Pedrosa to wildcard in Styria with KTM

News of Daniel Pedrosa’s return had been in the air for weeks, but it’s now official, and the Spaniard, who has been a test rider for KTM for three years already, will compete in the Styrian GP with an RC16 over the weekend of 6-8 August.

Already a world championship legend, the 35-year old will take to the Red Bull Ring with an evolved version of the Austrian bike, so that he can continue to develop various components in race conditions and line up against some of his old rivals once more.

Pedrosa: "I need to get back into the race mentality"

Dani is aware of the challenge that awaits him at Spielberg: “It’s been super-interesting to be part of this project from the beginning with KTM in MotoGP and being able to share my experience with them. It’s interesting again to go into a race because it gives you a different perspective compared to a normal test. It has been a long time since my last race and, of course, the mentality for a GP is very different to a test”.

"We’ll make this wildcard in order to understand more about MotoGP now. It’s difficult to talk about my expectations after being so long away from competition. It might all click into a racing mentality, or it might not but we’ll try to enjoy the weekend as much as we can”, concludes number 26 ahead of the upcoming race.
