Brother Aaron has provided an update on the talented Australian rider

Last stop for Anthony Gobert, hospitalized in palliative care

11 gen 2024

Born in 1975, the rider is now in hospital where he will spend the final hours of his short but very intense life. The news comes directly from Aaron Gobert, who has published a post on his Facebook page, something he has already done in the past, to update fans about his brother’s condition.

Gobert: genius and recklessness

Just a few lines to update fans around the world as to Anthony’s condition, which sadly now appears irreversible:

“It is with sadness that we have to announce that Anthony is currently hospitalised in palliative care and is in the final stages of his life following a short illness – please be aware that we will provide any available updates in due course. During this difficult time, the videos of Anthony being distributed during what has been an extremely troubled period of his life are deeply concerning, however, on behalf of Anthony, we must thank his many supporters from throughout his racing career.

The second part of the message refers to the darkest moments for “The Go Show”, which have seen alcohol and drugs unfortunately ruin his career and life. In 2019 Gobert was nearly killed when he was violently attacked with a baseball bat in his home as ‘payback’ for a scuffle that broke out in a restaurant where he had been eating. Anthony ended up in prison as a result and fell back into a tunnel of drugs. In March 2021, his brother managed to track him down, having not seen him for several years. Aaron set up a crowdfunding in an attempt to help his brother get clean, but it appears to have come too late. Updates to follow.
