Further recognition for the Doctor, who was awarded the title of 'MotoGP Legend’ during the end of season gala
Valentino Rossi’s immense career drew to a close on Sunday, as he crossed the finish line at Valencia. A 26-year journey, during which the Italian amassed nine world title, 115 race wins and 236 podiums, results that see him leave an indelible mark on the motorcycle world.
The Italian had an unforgettable day and, after celebrating with his team, it was time for the MotoGP Awards Gala, an event that traditionally rounds out the season. Rossi once again took centre stage, receiving the title of 'MotoGP Legend' from Carmelo Ezpeleta.
“I always thought this day would be like a nightmare (he laughs), because it’s the end of a long career and I thought it would be in Valencia but in the end I enjoyed it a lot so I have to thank everyone, everyone who has worked with me, the whole paddock, the other riders… it was an unforgettable day and I enjoyed it. It was a long career, and always a pleasure”, concluded Rossi.
The nine-time world champion is the sixth Italian to receive this honour after Agostini, Lucchinelli, Simoncelli, Ubbiali and Uncini.
