SBK Imola, the FIM strikes Ducati again: another 250 revs removed

Just as it did in the lead up to Barcelona, the FIM has modified the parameters of the V4R, now down to 15,600 rpm. Are there changes in store for the other manufacturers too?

Big news ahead of Imola. After a first re-evaluation of the rev limit at Barcelona, the FIM has decided to take further action in the run up to the seventh round, with a change that again affects Ducati.

While the rev limit for the V4R was 16,100 rpm at the start of the year, this was lowered to 15,850 at Barcelona and now, as of Imola, the Panigale bikes will be limited to 15,600 rpm, for another drop of 250 rpm.

Bautista in its sights. And the other ducatisti?

A decision that has raised debate, just as it did the last time in fact, and one that could paradoxically penalise the rest of the Ducati platoon over and above Alvaro Bautista.

Now it remains to be seen whether the other manufacturers will also see changes made. Prior to Barcelona, Kawasaki were permitted an additional 250 rpm, for a current limit of 14,850 rpm, while no modifications were made for Yamaha, Honda or BMW.
