WorldSBK: wildcard entry at Donington Park for Peter Hickman

The WorldSBK round at Donington Park will not only see Mackenzie entering as a wildcard, but also Peter Hickman. The experienced British rider, a BSB frontrunner and the dominant force at last month’s Tourist Trophy, will compete with a BMW M1000RR fielded by FHO Racing, as the team prepares to make its world championship debut. This will be a third appearance in the championship for “Hicky” on the other hand, following races in 2012 and 2019.

Hickman: “It will be an interesting experience”

“I’m mega excited to get a chance to have a go at WorldSBK” comments an enthusiastic Hickman. “I’ve done it twice, in 2012 with Suzuki and in 2019 with BMW but both times were last minute arrangements, jumping on bikes I had never seen before. This time I’ll be riding my FHO Racing BMW which I race in the British Superbike Championship so that will be good. We are having to work on raising the electronics package to World Superbike-spec which will change things quite a lot and could be interesting.”

“I think it’s fantastic that we’re getting the chance to do this as a team and it’s all down to Faye”, continues the 35-year old, “It’ll be good for everyone in the team to get to do a World Superbike round together”.

Faye Ho: “We have a competitive team”

Team manager Faye Ho, who originally comes from Macau, is optimistic ahead of this latest experience: “We have already had a very busy 2022 but this opportunity has presented itself and as a team, we’ve jumped at it. The team has already demonstrated its strength in British Superbikes and on the roads, but we are always keen to push ourselves and are eager to learn and continue to grow as a team, and this is something I feel will benefit the whole team going forward.”
