WorldSBK Most: Delbianco to stand in for Mercado

Having tested positive for Covid-19, the Argentinian will miss the Czech WorldSBK round. The Italian, currently competing in the CIV, steps in to take his place aboard the team MIE Honda CBR1000RR-R

Leandro Mercado just can’t seem to catch a break this season. Just ahead of the Czech round at the Most circuit, “Tati” has tested positive for Covid-19 and will be unable to take part in the weekend’s races, just one round after returning to the Superbike championship at Assen.

Standing in for the Argentinian aboard the team MIE Racing Honda CBR1000RR-R is Alessandro Delbianco, who recently scored pole and two second-place finishes at the latest CIV event at Misano.

A return to the world series

This means a return to the WorldSBK paddock for "DB52", who competed in Superstock 1000 and Superbike with team Althea in 2018 and 2019. This will be a good opportunity for Delbianco to perform on the world stage once again, at a track that is brand new for almost the entire grid.
