This is Jonathan’s sixth consecutive award, to go with his six world titles. All with Kawasaki, as we know. But if we consider all winners of the Adelaide Irish Motorcyclist of The Year accolade, the SBK champ has now tied with Joey Dunlop.
With eight awards apiece, the fellow countrymen are both considered legends on home turf, and rightly so. Around these parts, the locals are still crazy about George Best, the best Northern Irish footballer of all time. And in motorsport, it is Rea and Dunlop who go down in history in a country that is so proud of its roots.
