Torras has died following a serious accident on the last lap. He was the fastest Spaniard of all time at the TT
Tragic news from the Isle of Man. Following a last lap incident during Race 1 of the Supertwins class, Spanish rider Raul Torras Martinez has sadly died. The race was won by Michael Dunlop ahead of Browne and Coward, but in cases like these, the results take a backseat.
Competing for the Toll Racing team, Torras was entered into all categories with Honda, Yamaha and Aprilia and had set his first lap at an average in excess of 125 mph only hours before. He had become the fastest Spaniard of all time at the Tourist Trophy and this was his fifth year competing in the event.
He had also guest starred in our “Racing Things” video series, talking about his plans for this season and sending us an incredible onboard during the latest Macau GP, with which we were able to get a real taste of his road racing adventures.
The Motosprint team sends its sincere condolences to Raul’s family and friends. He will leave a significant void in the road racing world.
