2022 hasn't got off to the best start for Tarran Mackenzie. The current British Superbike champion sustained injury after crashing during a private test Cartagena, where he was lapping with his Yamaha R1. The Scottish rider fractured his tibia and ankle and dislocated his right shoulder.

Successful surgery

"Taz" remained in Spain following the incident and has now been operated on by Doctor Mir, who has become the point of reference for riders in recent years, at Barcelona hospital. Three screws have been inserted into the number 95 rider’s tibia and he is now in Girona, where he will undergo physio and rehabilitation before returning to the UK in February.

According to a press release issued by the McAms Yamaha team, Mackenzie should be fully fit in time for the first pre-season tests, scheduled to take place at Snetterton in late March, while the opening championship round will play out at Silverstone in mid-April.
