Ten days of convalescence and a return to riding within about three weeks - this is what Toni Bou can expect following his operation, which was carried out on the afternoon of Wednesday 5 May.

Having crashed while training, the 28-time Trial World Champion was taken to the Clinica Mi Tres Torres in Barcelona where Dr. Josep Torrent and Dr. Maurise Saur from iMove Traumatology, under the supervision of team doctor, Joaquim Terricabras, were able to stabilise Bou’s left fibula by inserting a plate. The urgent procedure was carried out in around one hour, to ensure the rider a relatively brief recovery time that won’t impact too much on his preparation.

The first round of the Trial World Championship is a little more than a month away, the season-opener set to take place in Tolmezzo on 12-13 June. An event that Bou should be fully fit for.
