Enea Bastianini, with his pure white number 23, lives up to his ‘Beast’ nickname on day two of MotoGP testing, setting a new record around the Sepang International Circuit. The Ducati Lenovo rider recorded a 1'57"134, a reference that beats the 1'57"491 previously set by Pecco Bagnaia during the 2023 qualifying session. A second Desmosedici, that of Prima Pramac rider Jorge Martin, closes just 0.139 of a second behind.

From Bastianini to Bagnaia, five riders beat the previous Sepang record

Enea Bastianini, Jorge Martin, Brad Binder, Aleix Espargaró and Pecco Bagnaia. Three Ducatis, one KTM and one Aprilia have redesigned the Sepang International Circuit in terms of fastest lap time. Also inside the top ten come the end of day two are Fabio Di Giannantonio, Alex Marquez, Pedro Acosta, Marco Bezzecchi and Joan Mir. Or rather, three more Desmosedicis, another RC16 and the Honda Repsol. Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins place tenth and twelfth respectively, with Joan Zarco in between them aboard the team LCR RC213 V.

And what of Marc Marquez? He closes fourteenth, roughly one second from the front. The eight-time champion is followed by Jack Miller, Takaaki Nakagami, Luca Marini, Maverick Vinales, Miguel Oliveira, Augusto Fernandez, Cal Crutchlow, Lorenzo Savadori and Michele Pirro
