With less than 24 hours to go before the first winter test of 2024, Yamaha has unveiled the livery with which it will compete during a season that looks to be crucial. The Iwata manufacturer trusts in reconfirmed rider Fabio Quartararo, the team's leading light, and in new-entry Alex Rins, who already performed well during the Valencia test the day after the final race of 2023. The new livery is very similar to that of last year, though there are some small differences. Quartararo&co hope for more in terms of both the performance and competitiveness of the bike.

Massimo Meregalli: "It’s time to get back to where we want to be"

Team manager, Massimo Meregalli, underlines the importance of the upcoming season: "The winter was very short but productive, and we were able to work hard both at our bases in both Japan and Italy. We have prepared a lot of material for the Sepang test and we’re ready. We’ll also try to improve our structure within the garage. Every season is important but this one is particularly significant in that it comes on the back of some challenging years. it's time to get back to where we want to be.”

Lastly, a comment about Alex Rins: "As for Alex Rins, I got a very good impression at the Valencia test. As he adapts to the bike, he has many questions and it’s only right and important that he is able to work without pressure, and without overdoing it, so as to avoid any crashes or injury".

In the words of Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins

2024 is a particularly important year for Fabio Quartararo who, if unable to return to the top level, may opt for a change of direction in the not too distant future: "I want to get back to winning and fight for the title again, but I’m aware I need to take it step by step. So this is how we’ll work, trying to create a solid base in order to be consistently in the top five, then the podium, and then up front. I’m under no illusions, I know it’ll be a tough year, but I’m ready”.

In MotoGP since 2017, Alex Rins comes to Yamaha after a six-year stint with Suzuki and one year with Honda, and having amassed six race wins to date. "This team has such a rich history, and so I’m pleased to be a part of it, especially because we share the same goal - both me and the team want to get back to being frontrunners in MotoGP". The Spaniard concludes: "My first impression of the bike was positive, and the team is very welcoming and determined to improve, listening to my feedback. I can’t wait to really get down to work with them all at Sepang”.
