"Red Bull has been our partner for a long time, and I really like the new livery." Pit Beirer gets straight to the point, emphasising that the GASGAS Tech3 team is even stronger this year, backed, branded and well-equipped as Pedro Acosta takes to MotoGP, a ‘gem’ of a rider on whom to firmly focus.

KTM, complete MotoGP team

Francesco Guidotti, Cristian Pupulin, Fabiano Sterlacchini. Italian resources on the Austrian Red Bull KTM Factory team who, according to Pit Beirer, may pave the way for additional new hires: "Though we’re not looking for anyone in particular, the doors are open. Ours is a complete team, made up of colleagues and friends. We started from scratch at the Austrian GP and learned a lot, year by year. Sterlacchini is the Technical Director of the race project, not simply a special guest. Maybe somebody will leave in the future, but that’s normal, just as new people might arrive.

And this goes for the riders too: "We want to focus on our four names, rather than hiring a fifth rider. In the hope we don’t have any injuries, the situation is less stressful now, because Pedro Acosta is already in MotoGP. He’s entered the reigning class two years early by knocking on our door. We’ll return to the market only if someone were to want to leave, putting aside the Pol Espargarò situation, a real concern for us.”

And who are the four names? "Brad Binder has grown with us, he’s a fantastic rider. Jack Miller came here as fourth rider, he’s had some difficulty, but we want to help him to stay, because he’s contributed to improving the RC16. Augusto Fernandez had a great rookie season, we’ll see how much he can grow, while everyone considers Pedro Acosta to be a diamond".

MotoGP fantastic in Pit Beirer’s opinion

Pit Beirer is clear: "The championship is fantastic", he comments, in reference to the 22 races plus Sprints. "I would support it even if I didn’t work here. Double the number of races has doubled the number of paying spectators on Saturday. But for us the ideal number of events would be between 18 and 20 per season, including the Sprint format".

He also alludes to the future of MotoGP: "The new technical regulation coming in 2027 is smart. We need to make the prototypes less extreme, reducing engine power, getting rid of the lowering device and limiting the aerodynamics. Control should be put back in the hands of the rider".

Lastly, the Concessions, a hot topic on which Beirer pours cold water: "We need technicians, to support development. As for the number of bikes, there’s debate, but I think we’ve put pressure on our Ducati friends, with our four RC16 bikes. I don’t know if the Concessions system is right or wrong, we’ll see. If we need a third team, we’ll find one. We’re talking to different squads, though it’s hard to get everyone to agree".
