Just one day after the conclusion of the 2023 MotoGP season comes the announcement that the FIM, IRTA and Dorna are excluding the CryptoData MotoGP team from the 2024 championship. With Aprilia at risk of losing two client bikes, it appears that former rider Justin Marks may take over the two RS-GP machines with the Trackhouse structure, already present in Nascar.

Repeated breaches of the agreement by RNF

A few short lines confirm the departure of the RNF Racing team after just two seasons in MotoGP. The successor to the Sepang Racing Team, which competed in MotoGP from 2014 to 2021, Razlan Razali’s structure switched to Aprilia this year after several years with Yamaha machinery. The reason given for the team’s immediate expulsion is that it has repeatedly violated the championship participation agreement, affecting the public image of MotoGP.

Here the full release:

FIM, IRTA and Dorna will not renew contract with CryptoDATA MotoGP team.

The MotoGP Selection Committee, comprising members of FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports, have decided not to select the CryptoDATA MotoGP Team for the 2024 season.

Repeated infractions and breaches of the Participation Agreement affecting the public image of MotoGP have obliged this decision.

The Selection Committee will be reviewing applications for a new Independent Team, using Aprilia machinery, to join the MotoGP class grid for 2024.

More information on this matter will follow in due course.

America incoming

But it looks as if help is at hand, with Justin Marks in line to take over part of the structure and the two Aprilia RS-GP bikes. The former American rider is the owner of Trackhouse Racing, a structure that competes in the Nascar Cup Series and that is eager to enter the motorcycling world through the front door. An important investment that could benefit both Aprilia and the entire world championship, which would again have an American team competing in the reigning class.
