KTM – and therefore GASGAS – has finally decided. After weeks of conjecture and rumour, the Tech3 team, the Austrian manufacturer’s satellite structure, has now confirmed its two riders for next year.

The internal battle between Pol Espargaró and Augusto Fernández for the team’s second seat, seeing as the first had already been promised to future rookie Pedro Acosta, has been won by the young Majorcan, who will therefore continue his career in the reigning class. The younger Espargaró brother, on the other hand, will probably work as test rider, potentially competing as a wildcard at some point during the season.

Acosta to learn, Espargaró to develop

As for Acosta, this is simply confirmation of something that was already written, with Pedro heading for his first Moto2 title – his second in total – as well as his debut in MotoGP, where he promises big things.

“We had an important and difficult decision to make for our team”, comments Pit Bierer. “Augusto has made impressive first steps in MotoGP and we are totally convinced he has the speed and the intelligence to keep on progressing. Pedro is a very special talent and 2024 will be about him learning to take the next step with the big boys in MotoGP. I want to thank Pol for everything he has done. This guy is super-tough and super-determined and that’s why we want to count on him as an important part of our structure.”
