Just a few hours before official MotoGP testing gets underway at the Portimão track, the factory Aprilia team has unveiled the 2023 RS-GP with which Maverick Viñales and Aleix Espargaró will compete this year. After scoring his first win last year, as well as fighting for the title, Aleix knows that both the Noale manufacturer and the fans have high hopes for him, but he’s ready for the challenge.

“Having been an Aprilia rider for so long (since 2017) I’m under a lot of pressure, because I know how important it is to score big results for them”, comments number 41. “At the same time, I’m relaxed as I know my work team well. It will be crucial to immediately find the right feeling at the start of the season, one which also brings some questions”.

Aleix trusts in the competitiveness of the Aprilia

“The introduction of the Sprint Race on Saturday will require real physical and mental effort, not only from the riders but the entire team”, continues Aleix. “The new format will definitely mix things up, but we’re ready. During testing, the bike – which is a direct evolution of last year’s version - was immediately competitive. We’re going to have fun, that’s for sure”.
