Marc Márquez was one of the stars of today’s streamed presentation of the Repsol Honda team, which saw the unveiling of the RC213V bikes that will race in MotoGP in 2023.

Márquez’s words

2023 needs to be a comeback year for both the Tokyo manufacturer and the eight-time champion, after a 2022 that was complicated for both parties, who failed to score even one race win.

“A normal winter at last, after many problems owing to my injuries”, explains Márquez during his brief speech.

Listening to Marc, it appears that his impressions at the recent Sepang test were positive, despite the intense work going on in the garage to resolve the issues with the RC213V: "I felt comfortable during the Malaysia tests and, with one month until the season starts, I can say I’m hopeful for a successful year. The Portimao test will be important for us”, continues #93, “we have work to do, but the engineers have worked hard in Japan. I’m keen to continue working and start the season; I feel fit and ready to race.”

His message to Mir

Feeling fit is not exactly a given considering the four surgeries he has undergone since his accident at Jerez in 2020, but Marc is optimistic: "I’ve had two tough years, the worst of my career. Now we all need to pull in the same direction, both riders and team. If we can do that, we can have a great season".

In 2023, Marc will be flanked by Joan Mir, who replaces Pol Espargaró, now racing for GASGAS: "This team needs two riders capable of winning races, comments Marc in reference to his new team-mate. “Joan comes from another bike, but as soon as he got on the Honda his feedback and sensations seemed very similar to mine. This should facilitate the team work. The aim is for us both to be at the top”, concludes Márquez.
