At the Ricardo Tormo circuit it was Rins who crossed the line first, gifting Suzuki one final race win, but there were others who were left disappointed. 2021 world champion Fabio Quartararo is one such rider, who had this to say after the race: “I made a very good start, one of my best ever. And lap one was good too. I pushed to the limit today. We gave it our all, but when you lose title, 99% of what you see is negative and only 1% positive. We will carry what we have learned into next year’s first round.”

The pressure and stress

The two title contenders were under a lot of pressure this weekend. As “El Diablo” admits: “I was stressed for a good part of Saturday, during qualifying, because I knew it was important to start well. I’m feeling less tension today.”

The race was hard in that he had to finish first to be in with a chance. Fabio comments: “I had problems with the front, due to the tyres that had become too “soft”. The problem wasn’t pressure but the high temperatures that were causing the tyres to suffer. I was really on the limit, particularly through the left-hand turns.”
