MotoGP, Quartararo: “We’re neck and neck, but I’m not worried”

The last Thai round was one to forget for Fabio Quartararo, who ran the entire race outside of the points zone. A significant ‘zero’ for the Frenchman then, who is now just two points ahead of a Francesco Bagnaia who is fighting fight and has a very high-performance Ducati. There are three races to go, the first of which is set to play out this weekend at the famous Phillip Island circuit.

The Frenchman is ready for a new challenge

Quartararo has also been taking a break from social media since the Thai race so as focus 100% on his racing and the last three decisive rounds that await. Prior to the Australian round, he comments: “The result in Thailand was very disappointing. Straight after that I started focusing to prepare for this final part of the season. I’ve spent the week training and preparing because the next two rounds are consecutive and will be really important, but I’m not worried.

The championship situation is delicate, particularly if we consider that Quartararo held a 91-point lead over the Italian after the German GP. The Yamaha rider states: "We’re neck and neck now so we just have to do our best, work well as a team and score as many points as possible”. These are the only aspects he can control, and he has good memories of Phillip Island after finishing second there in 2019. The race will be challenging, also considering the competitiveness of Aleix Espargaró, Marc Marquez and the other Ducati riders who won't exactly be holding back.
