Mir is better: Australian MotoGP for Joan

The Majorcan will be back on the Suzuki GSX-RR alongside Ecstar team-mate Alex Rins

Joan Mir can finally return to action. The Majorcan will compete in the Australian GP, back with team Ecstar, his Suzuki GSX-RR and his team-mate, Alex Rins. Following injury and a first vain attempt to race, the 25-year old will try again at Phillip Island.

Mir and Suzuki: farewell three races from now

It would be better if we could say "Thanks and see you again" but it would be crazy to think we’ll see Joan return in Suzuki colours. The Hamamatsu manufacturer will withdraw from MotoGP at the end of the year and so Mir – who has signed with Honda for 2023 – has three more races in which to honour the current championship, while recalling their shared 2020 world title.

The rider himself claims that he is feeling better, and we hope so. Phillip Island awaits and then it’s on to Malaysia. After that, Valencia. At Ricardo Tormo we’ll already get a taste of 2023, with the various team changes that will bring… And at that point, Joan Mir will no longer be a Suzuki rider.
