MotoGP opportunity for Aegerter: Suzuki to field him during the Misano test

Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter, the newly crowned MotoE champion, has a great opportunity coming up. The current Supersport champion is about to do something that many dream of but few actually achieve, as he prepares to climb aboard a factory MotoGP bike. The Suzuki Ecstar team will field him during the Misano test, during which he’ll be riding the GSX-RR.

The now 31-year old from Rohrbach had never had a chance to test the prototype of prototypes until now. The Swiss rider has previously scored solid results in the intermediate class, but the MotoGP is a different matter. Just enough time to lift the electric trophy, while also looking ahead to the next Supersport round.

Prior to the Magny-Cours round, Aegerter will take part in the Misano test on Tuesday and Wednesday. Team Ecstar will work on one of the two days with factory rider Alex Rins on the number 42 GSX-RR. The other Suzuki will be made available to Kazuki Watanabe, who was in action during the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini round.

Dominique will nevertheless have sufficient attention from the team, during what is an important session for his own personal CV. As he continues along the path towards a second Supersport title with Yamaha and Ten Kate, this opportunity confirms his value and may even open other doors, perhaps in Superbike.
