Moto2, second consecutive wildcard for Skinner in Austria

After competing in the British GP with the American Racing team, Rory will now take on the Red Bull Ring, a track he already knows, again with the US team’s Kalex

While the British Moto2 round was a home race for Rory Skinner, Austria will see him compete as a ‘true’ world championship wildcard. Not that he raced at Silverstone in American Racing colours for fun, far from it. But going to the Red Bull Ring with the same team will be much more of a test for him.

Worlds, BSB, Worlds: Kalex and Kawasaki for Rory

As he prepares to turn 21 on 27 September, Rory is one to watch. With his messy mid-length hair and thin face, he talks like a real British rider. And he’s committed. After finishing the Silverstone race in twenty-first position, Skinner headed straight back home.

More than a four-hour drive, no worries, in fact he was already thinking about British Superbike, where he’s doing well with the Kawasaki ZX-10RR, a bike that it would be good to see him riding in WorldSBK. But first things first, as the Thruxton round is just around the corner, and this is truly his home round.

And then it’s back on the road, direction Spielberg. The Red Bull Ring and the American Racing team’s Kalex are ready for #33 following his first appearance at the British round, and he’ll be flanking Cameron Beaubier and Sean Dylan Kelly. The Scotsman knows the Austrian track well, as he was able to get to grips with its during his Red Bull Rookies Cup days. Aside from the new chicane that is.
