The 2023 season will see the Venetian brand debut in the intermediate class, entrusting its Triumph-powered Kalex bikes to Celestino and Albert. The technical staff will be the current VR46 team, in what will be a productive mutual collaboration
After the news broke at Silverstone, further details are now emerging and it’s clear that Fantic is wasting no time in preparing for its first Moto2 world championship season. We had no doubts, especially after hearing the names of the chosen riders, none other than Celestino Vietti Ramus and Albert Arenas.
In practice, without going into too much detail, the staff and technical equipment will be that currently used in Moto2 by Mooney VR46, a squad that fields Niccolò Antonelli and Celestino Vietti Ramus, who have been collaborating already at Silverstone.
Celestino is deemed the perfect fit for this fledgling project, while many riders from both Moto3 and the intermediate class have shown an interest in the second seat. But the team wants a certain Spaniard who resides in Andorra, or rather Albert Arenas, the 2020 cadet class champion who knows exactly how to win at 25 years of age.
And Fantic won’t just be there to compete, not a chance. The message will focus on the word Fantic, with the slogan "Fantic fa" (Fantic does). The brand’s colours will adorn the bike and garage panels, in collaboration with the riders from Valentino Rossi’s Academy.
The company has recently moved to its base in Santa Maria di Sala, a brand-new facility where the atmosphere is nothing if not race-inspired. The department is large, spanning MX, Enduro, Dakar and Moto2, with the layout of test benches and everything one might need to do well.
