Ducati continues its journey into the electric world. After unveiling it for the first-time last December, Ducati has now officially presented its latest creation, or rather its first electric bike. A prototype that marks that start of an historic new chapter for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, as it takes up the electric challenge with a view to 2023. Next year, Ducati will in fact be the sole supplier for the MotoE championship, taking over from Enel and Energica.

Characteristics of the red MotoE

The battery pack weighs 110 kg, for nominal power of 150 HP. It’s interesting to note that, as with the front frame of the Panigale V4, the battery pack serves as a load-bearing chassis element, the actual aluminium frame weighing just 3.7 kg. Top speed? Roughly 275 km/h at Mugello. The technological package comprises the ride-by-wire system, Ducati traction Control, Engine Brake, Sliding Control and Wheelie Control. The tail piece is made entirely of carbon, with the bike weighing in at 225 kg in total.

One of the most advanced technical solutions tested on the Ducati MotoE concerns the cooling system. The prototype components are in fact cooled by a particularly sophisticated and efficient liquid system with a double circuit designed to meet the different thermal needs of the battery pack and the motor/inverter unit . This guarantees extreme regularity of temperatures with important benefits in terms of consistency of performance but also in charging times. In fact, it is not necessary to wait for the battery pack to cool to start the process: the Ducati MotoE can be charged as soon as it enters the garage, and it takes about 45 minutes to recharge it up to 80% of its range.
