The dark period is behind him, or at least this is what Lorenzo Dalla Porta hopes after having struggled with shoulder problems that have hindered his performance since 2021.

Dalla Porta on the up

And now, after some very difficult months in which he has undergone treatments and surgeries, the Italian can now breathe easy again after scoring some good results in the latest Moto2 races. The Italtrans rider has scored points in three of the last four races and finished eleventh at the last Barcelona round, evidence of the positive period Lorenzo is now enjoying.

Progress that has been possible thanks to a real improvement in his physical condition, something that Dalla Porta himself details in an Instagram post.

Lorenzo: “I was scared”

“Here’s the progress I’ve made in recent months”, writes the 2019 Moto3 champion alongside a photo showing his shoulder, operated on in 2021. “I’m working really hard and trying to speed things up, but it’s not been easy. In February, I had serious tendon inflammation that was causing me a lot of pain.”

There have definitely been some tough times: I was scared I wouldn’t be able to get back to an acceptable physical level, continues Dalla Porta. “The months went by and I saw little improvement”. But now the Italian has seen light at the end of the tunnel: “Now things are starting to work as they should have done months ago. I’ll be back in shape soon and I know that now", concludes #19.

Towards Germany

The aim now is to confirm the positive trend at the Sachsenring, the next track on the calendar (19 June) and one that brings back good memories for Dalla Porta. It was in Germany, in 2019, that he scored the first of four wins that set him on the path to world title victory.
