MotoGP, it’s a done deal between Jack Miller and KTM

The Australian and the Red Bull Ajo team will take on the next two seasons together. Jack will race alongside Brad Binder, taking the place of Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira, who will head to Ducati Gresini

And so it proves true - Jack Miller and KTM had been flirting with each other with the aim of coming to an agreement for the coming MotoGP season. And they’ve pulled it off, as the Australian will in fact ride for the Red Bull-backed team that is managed by the Ajo structure in both 2023 and 2024.

As Binder’s future team-mate, Jack will be back in orange

The negotiations complete, the Townsville native will be back in orange, leaving Ducati red behind. Jack first competed in the world championship, in Moto3, in 2014, competing for the very same Red Bull Ajo team. And so it is that Miller returns to familiar territory.

He will race alongside Brad Binder, who will remain exactly where he is. The pair have had very different career paths up until this point as, while the Australian jumped directly from the cadet class to the top class, first with Honda and then Ducati, Darryn’s brother has remained faithful to the Mattighofen manufacturer, even scoring the Moto3 title for them in 2016.

And what will Miguel Oliveira do?

He will move to the Gresini team, or so it seems. Although it originally looked like he might go to Honda LCR, the Portuguese rider is now closer to riding the Desmosedici, specifically the independent Ducati of Nadia Padovani’s team.

Oliveira’s story is similar to those of Miller and Binder. Having (almost) always been linked to KTM, the 27-year old is now leaving the team with which he won races across all classes, the top class included. He is in fact the only rider to have won with the RC16 this year. At Mandalika.

It’s welcome from Guidotti, and welcome back from Beirer

Red Bull Ajo team manager Francesco welcomes the future rider:Having Jack alongside Brad in our team means we have another strong asset. I know him well, I know how he likes to work and what he can bring to the box. I believe his character and the way he will ride and push our KTM RC16 will help us a lot at this stage of our project. Like Brad, Jack is a pure racer: he will find the limits and the maximum of any condition and any package and still ‘go for it’ to get the result and that is quite a rare quality. The next two seasons will be exciting.”

KTM Racing Manager Pit will be working with Miller once more: “Of course we’ve known Jack since he made a boom with Aki and our Moto3 program and it’s a big pleasure to bring a rider of his capabilities into our MotoGP structure. He left us with a positive impression, and we’ve stayed in contact. Jack’s approach and attitude to racing are very similar to ours. I am very proud that he comes back to Red Bull KTM again and he will be a great addition to our mission.”
