Marc Marquez believes: the Austin GP in his sights

The eight-time champion is riding a standard Honda CBR 600 at a Spanish track. A race against time, but diplopia doesn’t scare him

Marc Marquez believes. And he's right to do so, because if the eight-time champion thinks he’s fit enough for the next MotoGP round, then it’s only correct that he tries. And here he is, in the cover image, aboard his Honda CBR 600, the street bike that #93 uses to train when he’s far from the world championship tracks.

But he doesn’t want to be kept away from Austin… On the contrary, the Repsol Honda rider is hard at work at a Spanish track, for two reasons, namely to understand whether participation in the CoTA race is feasible and to ready himself for a eventual return at Portimão. The 29-year old has surely heard Carmelo Ezpeleta’s words.

Austin calls and Marc Marquez wants to respond

We need to remember that Marc holds the record for recent race wins in the States, having won six out of the seven editions in which he has competed. And number seven was just around the corner, if he hadn’t crashed in the final stages of the race in 2019. It was Alex Rins with the Suzuki who ultimately benefitted.

The Catalan rider feels at home in Texas, an American state in which Spanish is as widely spoken as English. The action at the Circuit of The Americas kicks off on Friday with the free practice sessions. Will the Spanish champion be there for round 4? Seeing him out on track today gives us hope.
