MotoGP, Bagnaia: “We want to bring the riders' title back to Borgo Panigale”

Ducati presents the GP22, the bike with which it will battle for a title it’s not won since 2007. Pecco Bagnaia is clearly among the favourites and doesn’t hide his ambitions

With the first tests at Sepang now complete, the 2022 MotoGP season is officially underway, a season that Ducati begins as the manufacturer favourite, thanks to its starring role during the second half of 2021 as well as the technical characteristics of a bike that is able to exalt the different riders and their riding styles. This technical versatility is what makes it a point of reference in the reigning class right now. And this realisation has coincided with real growth on Pecco Bagnaia’s part. Scoring four wins in the last six races of last year, the Italian demonstrated a talent that clearly puts him in the running for the title this season.

Pecco aims for the title: "I grew a lot last year"

The GP22 presentation marks an important moment for Ducati. Now more than ever before, the manufacturer is aiming for, and believes in, a title that it has not won since 2007, when Casey Stoner lifted the trophy. The speed shown last season and the confidence that the latest winter test has brought means that Bagnaia is not hiding his title hopes: "We’ll be aiming to bring the MotoGP riders' title, as well as the constructors' title, back to Borgo Panigale. I’m pleased to start this new season. We finished 2021 on a positive note and hope to start 2022 in a similar vein".

The Italian is well aware of his growth during the final months of 2021: "Together with my team, I grew a lot last year, and I’m sure that we can do big things". Pecco is also very happy with the new bike: "With this colour scheme, the Desmosedici GP is even more beautiful, and I can’t wait to be out racing with it again. The goal, as ever, will be to continuously improve and work to become more competitive".
