The 24-year old Moto2 rider has been operated on by Dr. Mir after fracturing his left thumb
It's bad news for Augusto Fernandez. The Spanish rider hurt himself during a training session on Thursday, sustaining an extra-articular fracture to the first metacarpal of his left thumb.
The KTM Ajo rider was operated on by Dr. Xavier Mir at the ‘Hospital Universitari Dexeus’ yesterday. He will remain in hospital for 24 hours, after which he can begin the recovery process.
A serious setback that Fernandez hopes to resolve by 19 February, when the Moto2 class will be out at Portimão for the first official tests of the year.
The Spaniard’s injury is the latest in a series of incidents for KTM riders, considering the fractures suffered first by Holgado (Moto3) and then by Gardner (MotoGP).
