In an interview with Sky Sport, the 2021 runner-up commented on the livery of the new Desmosedici GP and outlined his future goals, contractual extension included. Here’s what he had to say
The team presentation is scheduled for 7 February, but Ducati has already unveiled the livery of its 2022 Desmosedici on social media channels.
A darker red and black inserts dominate the fairing of the GP22, a colour scheme that Francesco Bagnaia seems to appreciate: "The bike is very similar to that of 2021, but there are some details that we like even more. The red is back to being Ducati red, it’s beautiful”, the Italian told Sky Sport.
As he waits to head out on track at Sepang for testing on 5-6 February, Pecco outlines his goals for the upcoming championship: “I think that, after the end of last season, we can, and we must, aim for the ultimate result. We need to be fast right from the outset, running up front and aiming to win races. Consistency will make the difference".
Considering the results on track, the relationship between Bagnaia and the Borgo Panigale manufacturer appears stronger than ever, the rider himself admitting that he is keen to extend his relationship with the Italian team: "Starting out with the knowledge that you are staying on for the following years means you can relax. And the most important thing is that we have chosen each other". No contract is signed as yet, but Bagnaia has no doubts: "If I imagine a future in MotoGP, I imagine it with Ducati".
