The list of riders requiring winter surgeries grows. This time it was young Spaniard Daniel Holgado (Ajo KTM RedBull Moto3) who was in the operating theatre, after injuring himself while out training with a motorcycle on Wednesday morning.

The result? A multifragmented fracture of his left tibia and a trip to Barcelona hospital to reduce the fracture. The operation, carried out yesterday by Dr Ignacio Ginebreda at the Clinica Dexeus in Barcelona, was a success and the rider will already be able to start his rehabilitation in coming weeks.

The world championship is set to start in Qatar on 6 March, so Holgado has plenty of time to recover and be back in shape in time to make his Moto3 debut.
