It’s official - Marc Marquez will take part in the IRTA tests set to take place at Sepang on 5 February. The Repsol Honda team has confirmed Marc’s presence now that the rider has been passed fit by doctors.

The diplopia problem has passed

“Throughout the winter Marquez has had continual medical checks and consultations to monitor his diplopia”, reads the Honda press note. “In recent weeks the improvements in his condition saw his medical team deem his recovery sufficient to return to training on two wheels. The #93 rider first returned to the motocross track before trying the Honda RC213V-S in Portimao and a Honda CBR600RR in Aragon”.

Final medical check OK: Marc can return

But there’s more. Because as well as returning to the track for training sessions, Marquez underwent another medical check on Monday 24 January which reconfirmed that the treatment has been a complete success and the eight-time World Champion is in a suitable condition to ride a MotoGP bike.

And this led to the long-awaited confirmation that Marc will be able to begin the 2022 season along with the other riders and also take part in the first 2022 tests taking place at Sepang in early February. The Spaniard will be riding the MotoGP bike for the first time since winning the 2021 Emilia Romagna race. We expect to see him in the saddle of the 2022 version of the RC213V.
