The Petronas rider gives his version of events at Portimão: "I didn’t want to ruin Dennis’ race. I had nowhere to go"
After making an incredible recovery during the second half of the season, Dennis Foggia’s title hopes were dashed on the last lap at Portimão, when Darryn Binder floored him in making an exaggerated move into the corner.
A daring move that caused a lot of reaction, not least in the Leopard garage. A few hours after the event, the South African has tried to apologise to the rider and his team for what happened.
“I just want to say sorry. I was trying to pass Sergio Garcia, I was braking and I suddenly saw Dennis Foggia in front of me. I had nowhere to go” says Darryn in relation to events in the Algarve.
“I’m really sorry for him, for his team and for Garcia. It’s the last thing I wanted to happen of course, particularly with Dennis fighting for the title, it definitely wasn’t my intention. I plan to apologise once again to everyone involved”, concludes Andrea Dovizioso’s future MotoGP team-mate.
