Moto3 GP Italy: Tom Luthi’s touching message for Dupasquier

Veteran Moto2 rider Tom Luthi has been hit very hard by Jason Dupasquier’s death. Before the tragic news was confirmed, Luthi decided not to compete in the Mugello race, instead going to the "Careggi" hospital in Florence to be with Jason and his family.

The message

Just 24 hours after Dupasquier's passing, the pain is intense and Luthi tries to express his feelings in a post he shared on social media.

"Jason, it is still hard for me to accept what has happened in the last few hours. That you have passed away is impossible to understand”, writes Luthi.

“I am grateful that I had the chance to be a part of your journey within the last few years - of your journey to grow as a person and as a racer. Thank you for letting me share the beautiful and funny, but also the difficult moments with you. Your open-minded and motivated manner has always inspired us. This is exactly how we will remember you: with your inspiring smile and your passionate spirit. Forever.”

Heartrending words that demonstrate the humanity of these riders - if such proof were needed. Men who are rivals on track but who know how to be team-mates and friends, in the good and the bad, once their helmets come off.
