MotoGP Italy, Petrucci: “Mugello? It’ll be tough but I can’t wait”

After his strong fifth-place finish at Le Mans, the Italian is aiming to do well at the track where he scored his first win in 2019

In 2020, the Mugello track was not on the calendar due to the coronavirus pandemic but this year the Italian GP is back. The 2019 edition was all about Danilo Petrucci who put on a bold and determined performance to fight off Marc Marquez then team-mate Andrea Dovizioso.

A special event

Danilo is excited to return to the Tuscan track: “I’m very, very happy to come back to Mugello, one of my favorite circuits. Last time I have been here, I won the race, which is a great memory”. That was his first ever MotoGP win, which has its own unique flavour.

The situation with KTM is different now, and "Petrux" is still adapting to the RC16 but he has clear goals after scoring a fifth-place finish at Le Mans: “I like the track a lot, I rode there a lot in the past, so I know it very well. This could help us in order to improve the bike again. For sure, it will be more difficult than in Le Mans, as there’s a long straight where you need a good acceleration, but we suffer a bit in this area this year. So, it will be tough, but on the other hand, I can’t wait to race again in Mugello”.
