Fabio Quartararo has undergone a successful second surgery (following a first in 2019) on his right forearm, having suffered from compartmental syndrome during Sunday’s race.

The Frenchman missed yesterday’s Jerez test in order to return to France and consult with doctors as to the best course of action. Fabio was operated on this morning at a hospital in Aix-en-Provence.

The Yamaha rider should be ready for his home GP at Le Mans, set to take place from 14 to 16 May.

The Frenchman’s comment

“The operation for compartmental syndrome has gone well. I still feel sleepy after the anaesthetic but I’m good. The doctor tells me it all went to plan. The pain I experienced during the Jerez race stopped me from fighting for the win".

"I can’t wait to go home and start working on my arm this week so that I’m 100% for Le Mans. I’m confident about my recovery, mentally strong, and can’t wait to get back on my M1 as soon as possible”, comments Fabio, who posted an image on social media shortly after his surgery to reassure everyone that all had gone well.

“Surgery done, everything fine. Only goal now is next race at home at Le Mans. P.S. I just woke up”, wrote the Frenchman alongside the photo.
