MotoGP: while awaiting winter testing, the riders have fun... with Ohvale

In order to be ready for the 2021 pre-season tests, Vinales and Aprilia riders, Aleix Espargaro and Lorenzo Savadori, will train with bikes produced by Valerio Da Lio’s firm

All enthusiasts will have been enraptured by a bike at one time or another. Sometimes though, the cost and reality of the situation prove prohibitive, turning something that gets our heart racing into nothing more than a forbidden dream. An object to admire on the page or to possess in the form of a scale model.

This isn’t far from what the world championship riders experience, separated from their beloved MotoGP machines for the entire winter break. A suffering that is offset, in some cases, by off-road training or the distraction of some nice ‘toys’. After all, isn’t Christmas the ideal time for having fun (and acting like kids), perhaps climbing aboard a… little MotoGP?

Two RS bikes for Aleix and Lorenzo

It might not be exactly what they had in mind in Noale, but they’re not far off, considering the ‘gifts’ received by Aleix Espargaro and Lorenzo Savadori yesterday: two brilliant Aprilia RS 250 SP bikes, or rather two examples of the little racers produced in collaboration with Ohvale, around the technical base of the RS 125, to star in the Sport Production championship.

Two "toys" that will keep the Aprilia riders company until the first winter tests, after which the Italian manufacturer will decide whether it is Savadori or Smith who will continue on as rider, while the other is confirmed as test rider.

Maverick’s wasting no time

But while the two RS 250 SP bikes haven’t yet tasted the asphalt, Maverick Vinales is already getting the miles in, having returned to work today, on track with what appears to be one of the new Ohvale GP-2 bikes, suitably adorned with the Spaniard’s #12.

After all, if you can combine training with having fun, why wait?
