"I have an immense passion for racing and still have the ambition to compete and fight to win. I will return to MotoGP as soon as I find a project driven by the same passion and ambition that I have”, announces the Italian
Andrea Dovizioso had promised that he’d soon let us know as to his future. And he’s remained true to his word. Just a short time ago, he made an announcement on his social media profile, confirming that he’s unwilling to accept a test rider role.
“This is what I’m going to do in 2021”, states Dovizioso. “Over the last few months, I have received several offers to work as a test rider in developing MotoGP projects.
“I am grateful for the consideration received by the manufacturers. However, I have decided not to make any commitments and to remain free from formal agreements for now”, adds Andrea.
The Italian goes on to say how important it is for him to continue racing at the top level.
“I have an immense passion for racing. I still have the ambition to compete and fight to win”, writes 'Dovi'.
“I will return to MotoGP as soon as I find a project driven by the same passion and ambition that I have and within an organization that shares my same objectives, values and working methods.
“Now I am focused on finishing the World Championship in the best possible way, and I have already started developing some projects with my partners”, concludes Dovizioso.
Our title photo is the one that Andrea himself used for his announcement. The choice of black and white image is significant in itself, highlighting how ‘Dovi’ will not settle for any 'half measure' solution.
Who knows whether new paths might open up now, in light of Andrea Iannone suspended for four years">Iannone’s suspension for a further three years. If Aprilia were to come knocking, would Dovizioso confirm his sabbatical year? We can only wait for further - and surely imminent - developments.
