MotoGP, Marquez: "Am I Seen as the Favorite? If I Win, I’ve Just Done My Duty. If I Lose, It’s a Disaster"

Nine victories at the Sachsenring, a unique feeling with the German track, and the desire to put a complicated weekend in Assen behind him. Marc Marquez arrives at the German Grand Prix as the weekend's main protagonist, but without wanting to fuel the hype. In fact, the Spaniard urges caution, speaking of a physical condition that continues to represent his greatest challenge.

"It has been a very demanding and tiring period. This will be the last weekend before the summer break, and from that point of view, it’s a positive thing. We will try to fight for the podium. Am I seen as the favorite? When you achieve the ultimate goal at circuits like this where I’ve always been fast, people say you’ve simply done your duty; if things go badly, however, it immediately becomes a disaster. But I'm used to living with this kind of pressure. Three races ago, it looked like the championship was over for me, whereas now I am still fully in the mix."

Marc Marquez: "The Championship is Open; Bezzecchi, Di Giannantonio, and Martin Are Very Strong"

The champion from Cervera continued: "Bezzecchi, Di Giannantonio, and Martin are very strong, so it won't be easy. The championship is open; no one has a clear advantage. Bezzecchi was probably the fastest at the start of the season, but not the best, given that Martin is leading the championship. Right now, my goal is different: after the summer break, we will truly understand what we can fight for."

Marquez then explained that he continues to find positive sensations in terms of his riding style, especially through left-hand corners: "I am riding better and better through left-hand turns. It wasn't like this at the start of the season, but now I’m starting to feel good in those situations again."

The Ducati rider also had high praise for Joan Mir, expressing his belief that the 2020 World Champion can find his competitiveness again with the Gresini team:

"Mir is an extremely talented rider, and I think he will do very well with Ducati Gresini. Racing isn't just about riding the bike; it's also about knowing how to understand and manage moments. At Gresini, he will find a calm environment. For me, it was a very important team, just like every team I’ve been with in my career. I think Gresini was even more important for Alex because it gave him so much. I myself arrived there partly thanks to his presence, and I felt great both with the bike and the people. It was the place that allowed me to escape the nightmare of my injuries."
