Yamaha has decided: Baldassarri and Ray set for SBK promotion

The Italian contingent in Superbike is ready to welcome a new member. We’re talking about Lorenzo Baldassarri, who arrived in the production-derived paddock this year and has immediately proved himself aboard the team Evan Bros Yamaha R6, so much so that he has already amassed four race wins and a total of twelve podiums.

Results that see him fighting for the Supersport title with Dominique Aegerter, who currently lies 36 points ahead. And that’s not all, as the Iwata manufacturer – with whom Baldassarri has a direct contract until the end of 2023 – has decided to reward him with a promotion to Superbike.

Italy–France combo, Motoxracing looks to BSB

The squad that is set to welcome him is team GMT94, as it prepares to make its Superbike debut with just one rider in the shape of Baldassarri. A strategic move for the French team, who will immediately be able to count on a talented rookie who is keen to follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Andrea Locatelli.

And still in the Yamaha orbit, it looks like a decision has now been made as to who will race with the Motoxracing R1 next year, and it’s not Tarran Mackenzie. After weeks of negotiations, Yamaha has changed direction and is opting for Bradley Ray, so close to securing the BSB title with Yamaha (of course). Two rookies are therefore set to enter the Superbike world. Who would you bet on?
