Aegerter renews with Ten Kate, but remains in Supersport

The new-look Supersport that will launch in 2022 will also see current champion Dominique Aegerter lining up with the Ten Kate team. The Swiss rider has announced on social media that he has renewed his contract with the Dutch team for next season, when he will do his best to defend his 2021 crown.

Dominique stays to defend the title

“I am very happy to continue with Ten Kate Racing Yamaha in 2022 – writes the Swiss rider - We had a great first season with many successes and the world title. I am looking forward to work with the same group of people next season. I feel very much at home at Ten Kate Racing and we are a strong team. Next year we will have more experience and more data, so the goal will be to defend the world title with the Yamaha R6. Our common goal is to continue and grow together in 2023. I want to thank the team and all partners and sponsors who make our dream possible. But first we go to Indonesia, an important race in which we will try to score as many points as possible for the team championship!”

It’s a pity not to see the champion in next year’s Superbike field (contrary to what Locatelli did) but he’s in for a real challenge with Ten Kate as he fights to retain his title in a Supersport series that will run according to a new regulation and therefore with much more powerful bikes.
