Unfortunately, our eyes and ears didn't deceive us and it is now confirmed that there will be no Phillip Island for the Superbikes in 2021. Due to the current situation, the Australian event will not take place but luckily, Dorna and the staff at the Australian circuit hope to be able to organise the iconic event for next year.
In the meantime, the Superbikes will visit a new track over the next five years, namely Most, a circuit located in the Czech Republic. This year's round is set to take place during the first week of August, with all four classes competing, so Superbike, Supersport, Supersport 300 and the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European Cup.
Scheduled to run over the weekend of 6-8 August, the riders and teams will be able to enjoy the experience of racing at what was a classic 90s European championship track, nestled in a beautiful natural setting. Gregorio Lavilla expressed his enthusiasm and looks forward to the event: "We welcome Autodrom Most – comments the Executive Director of Dorna – which will be part of the calendar for five consecutive years. This is an opportunity for Czech riders and fans. As for Australia, the parties involved have decided that it was best to shift the round to 2022, when it will open the championship".
