BSB: crowdfunding for Cedric Bloch after his accident at Snetterton

Last month, during a British Supersport practice at Snetterton, 33-year old Cedric Bloch was unfortunately involved in a serious accident. When the brakes on his Kawasaki malfunctioned, he fell and was subsequently hit by his own bike.

As a result, the rider is paralysed from the chest down. He has also broken all his ribs, his sternum, tibia, left knee and right wrist. He will face months of rehabilitation before he is able to return home.

A crowdfunding for 150,000 pounds

Bloch’s family has set up a crowdfunding campaign on the GoFundMe platform to be able to support him during his recovery, after an accident that has literally changed his life in what was only his third racing season. The goal is to raise 150,000 pounds, or rather the funds needed for the equipment he will need in order to get back to something resembling ‘normal’ life.

So far, almost 60,000 has been raised since 4 October. Anyone who would like to support Cedric and help him in his recovery can do so via this link.

Although Snetterton is one of the safest tracks, with some of the largest run-off areas of all the British circuits, this isn’t the first time such an incident has occurred. How can we forget multiple BSB title winner Shane Byrne, whose career came to an end after a crash during testing.
