The environmental disaster that has hit various regions in Germany forced the IDM organisers to cancel round three of the German Superbike championship, which was set to take place at the Nurburgring.
With the event having been cancelled, team Hertrampf decided not to return home but to travel to Holland, to take part in the Dutch Superbike championship with riders Vladimir Leonov and Max Schmidt competing as wildcards, as a way to keep up their training ahead of the next IDM round, scheduled to run at the semi-road track of Schleiz.
Great results on and off track
Having won the first three races, Leonov renounced a fourth trophy, returning to the garage with his Yamaha R1 before the end of the race as a sign of respect. Schmidt did the same, having battled for the podium, but what really counts is that the team donated its event registration fee to help those affected by the floods.
During a weekend that proved disastrous for German motorcycling and Germany as a whole, the team headed up by Denis Hertrampf has not only kept up with its training but has, above all, shown what it means to be a great team away from the track.
