MotoGP: Martin on the factory Ducati? The opinions of Nieto and Borsoi

The battle between Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin for this year’s MotoGP world title is proving to be one of the most unpredictable and exciting of recent years. And yet the focus is not only on what’s happening on track, but also on the rumours circulating in the paddock, according to which the Spanish rider has not totally ruled out the idea of moving to the factory Ducati team.

Having lost the duel with Bastianini for the second seat on the factory team last year, Jorge may now find himself walking in through the front door, if he were to win the title that is, as reported by Spanish publication AS. It sounds idealistic to imagine Martin with another team already next year, but comments from team Pramac’s Fonsi Nieto and Gino Borsoi offer at least a glimmer of hope.

The words of Nieto and Borsoi

If I think about Jorge Martin with the factory Ducati team, on the one side it makes me sad as it would mean no longer working together, but on the other hand I’d be happy because it would probably mean we had won this year’s championship”, commented Fonsi Nieto, Team Pramac Sporting Director. “It’s only normal for teams to want to bet on him, he’s the strongest rider right now.”

Team Manager Gino Borsoi agrees: “I don’t know if there’s really a chance for Jorge on the factory team already in 2024, but if it happens, it’ll be because he deserves it.
