V21L. No, that’s not a spelling mistake, but the name of the first prototype electric bike produced by Ducati, which, as we know, will become the sole supplier in MotoE as of 2023. Nothing is left to chance in Borgo Panigale and this is no exception, the bike already on track on Thursday for an initial test at Misano.
Conducting this first historic test was none other than Ducati test rider Michele Pirro, who has already provided his first impressions.
“Testing the first MotoE prototype on track was really exciting, because it marks the start of an important new chapter in Ducati history. The bike is light and well balanced, and the ergonomics and initial throttle connection are similar to those of a MotoGP”.
Encouraging words, and Michele has more to say: “If it weren’t for the silence and the fact that we decided to limit the power to just 70% for this test, I’d have thought I was riding my MotoGP".
So a very positive first test for Ducati, which will now continue with its development. The most important aspects of an electric bike are its weight, size and range. All areas on which to improve day after day, the work on track ultimately set to lead to a road-going electric Ducati bike.
