Moto2, Raúl Fernández already has MotoGP connections

Raúl Fernández’s Moto2 chapter has got off to the best possible start, the rider a fixed presence in the leading group. He finished the Qatar races in fifth and third place and, after a 2020 Moto3 season that saw him continue to grow, the Spaniard is already proving to be something of a revelation in the middle class.

MotoGP is close

So much so that he’s already attracted the attention of some major players in the top class. Spanish paper Marca suggests that Yamaha, Ducati and Aprilia have already shown an interest in the Spaniard, enquiring as to his contractual arrangements for coming seasons. He has clearly adapted quickly to the Red Bull Team Ajo’s Kalex and has become one of the stars of the category in little more than a month. This initial contact will surely lead to more, though the other manufacturers will have to deal with KTM, which has hired the Spaniard for the 2021-22 Moto2 seasons with an option for him to debut in the reigning class in 2023.
